Dear parents and guardians,

We made it through the snowy week! The kids have been working so hard on their gingerbread story writing! We have been practicing hard to edit our sentences and make sure that what we are writing makes sense. I wanted to share some photos of the students reading their work to each other and providing feedback on whether the work makes sense, areas of strength, and areas for improvement.

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm and safe :).

A couple of reminders:

- field trip forms need to be signed and returned if you would like your child to participate on Tuesday. Otherwise, they will engage in learning opportunities in another grade 1 classroom.
- NO SCHOOL on Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th due to Teacher's Convention. There is also no school on Monday, February 12th for Family Day.
- I will be sending home a list of student names on Monday for Valentines cards. If you choose to have your child participate in a card exchange, please ensure a card is made for each student. They can be exchanged on February 14th.
- Students are invited to wear clothing that represents the Olympic team that they are cheering for on Monday :).

September 26th

Dear Parents and Guardians,   We have had a very busy week of learning so far. On Monday morning, we started our day by writing in our journals. The students were challenged to write about one event from their weekend with lots of detail. They were also asked to create more than one sentence. Mrs. Witczak and I are VERY IMPRESSED with the progress we have seen in our student's journal writing over the past month. Here are a few examples from September: Here are some examples from this week: Here are all of the sight words we have learned so far this year. At this point in time, your child should be able to quickly read and correctly spell each of the words. When working on the words at home, please ensure you practice them in a different order each day:)                             1. the                  11. he ...
